Everybody deserves a second chance to find love... even books... and I am delighted to announce that LORD SOMERTON'S HEIR (a #regencyromance AND #historicalmystery) is going to be relaunched on 1 September in print, audio and digital. The text has been refreshed and revised and the cover is simply gorgeous. Sebastian Alder's sudden elevation from penniless army captain to Viscount Somerton is the stuff of fairy tales, but the cold reality of an inherited estate in wretched condition leaves him little time for fantasy, and the memory of his wife's brutal death haunts his every moment. When he learns of the mysterious circumstances of his cousin's demise, he must also look for a potential murderer ... surely not Isabel, his cousin's ladylike widow? Isabel, Lady Somerton, is desperate to bury the memory of her unhappy marriage by founding the charity school she has always dreamed of. Her hopes are shattered from beyond the grave when she is left not only penniless but once more bound to the whims of a Somerton ... although perhaps the new Lord Somerton is a man she can trust ... or even care for? Suspicion could tear them apart ... honesty and courage may pull them together. The current digital version is still available but the print book can be pre-ordered HERE... and stay tuned for news of the audio book (Have I said how much I love audiobooks?). "There’s some will say that Maiden’s Creek is the town of lost souls and broken hearts. We come looking for refuge from our past." Welcome back to Maiden's Creek... whether you first visited this isolated gold mining settlement in the remote mountains of Gippsland THE POSTMISTRESS or you are new to town, you are assured of an interesting visit.
The year is 1873 and over a year has passed since Caleb and Adelaide Hunt left Maiden's Creek to travel to England. Caleb's Shenandoah Mine is now under the management of his partner, Will Penrose, and his position at the Maiden's Creek Mine has been taken by a Scottish Engineer, Alec McLeod. Alec has left a tragic past behind in Scotland and he and his brother, Ian, have come to Australia to start a new life. When he took on the Shenandoah mine, Will Penrose wrote to his sister, Eliza asking her to join him. It has not been easy for Eliza, a teacher in a girl's school and responsible for her mother, to make the voyage but on a cold, winter's day she finally arrives in Maiden's Creek... Readers of THE POSTMISTRESS will recognise the townspeople ... Netty and Amos Burrell, Lil and her girls, the bankers and their wives... and there are a few new faces in this town of secrets! THE GOLDMINER'S SISTER is on sale in print everywhere good books are sold in Australia and New Zealand, as an ebook (click HERE for your favourite links) and also in audio from Audible, Amazon and other audio retailers. And if you would like an autographed copy please click HERE. My absolute favourite part of the whole book production process is seeing a new cover for the first time. Have the 'cover fairies' seen what I see in my book? And I have to say I have been singularly blessed with the design team at HQN/Harper Collins Aus. Hot on the heels of the stunning cover for THE POSTMISTRESS, comes this cover for THE GOLDMINER'S SISTER. Thank you 'cover fairies'... you have done me proud :-) The Goldminer's Sister will be released on 8 July and is available for preorder now! The Goldminer's Sister Gold is a fever. Will it lead her to love ... or death? A suspenseful romance set on the turbulent goldfields of 1870s Australia, for readers of The Postmistress and The Woman in the Green Dress. 1873. Eliza Penrose arrives in the gold mining town of Maiden's Creek in search of her brother, planning to make a new life for herself. Instead she finds a tragic mystery - and hints of betrayals by those closest to her. Mining engineer Alec McLeod left Scotland to escape the memory of his dead wife and child. Despite the best efforts of the eligible ladies of Maiden's Creek, Alec is determined never to give his heart again. As lies and deceit threaten Eliza's life, Alec steps in - although he has problems of his own, as he risks his livelihood and those he holds dear to oppose the dangerous work practices at the Maiden's Creek Mine. When disaster draws the pieces of the puzzle together, Eliza and Alec must save each other - but is it too late? PREORDER LINKS for THE GOLDMINER'S SISTERIt's been a long time since I last sat down to write a post (a whole year in fact!) ... and for that you can blame two contracts and four books to write! It doesn't leave much time for any other kind of writing. However it is all coming to the pointy end now and I am delighted to reveal the cover for the first of my Australian Historical Romances... THE POSTMISTRESS. It might surprise you to know the most nerve wracking part of the publishing process is the cover! When you publish independently you have full creative control over what goes on the cover of your book (and even then it can be hit or miss!). However when your book is in the hands of a publisher, you have to trust that the design team (affectionately known as the 'cover fairies') are in tune with your vision. Having poured a year of my life into writing THE POSTMISTRESS, it was with one eye half closed and my breath held, that I opened the email with the cover concept and I have to say the cover fairies have totally got it right! God bless them. I LOVE this cover... it captures the feel of the Australian bush in summer - that crackling dryness in a McCubbinesque manner and the girl... well, the girl, is Adelaide! I hope you love the cover... and I hope you love the book... It is not officially released until 1 July BUT you can preorder it now! Just click the button below and it will take you to a page with all your favourite digital stores AND the ability to preorder the print book too! So get clicking and be among the first to have THE POSTMISTRESS drop on to your kindle or into your post box. That's it from me for the moment. If you want to be the first to know my news then please subscribe to my newsletter. I promise you won't be bombarded - I only send it out when I have news (and you get a free book!) SO HERE SHE IS...
